Alghero, the little Barcelona of Sardinia

Conquered by the Crown of Aragon in 1353 and resettled by Catalans, Alghero still speaks a Catalan dialect. Its walled old town faces the sea; nearby are Porto Conte, Capo Caccia and Neptune's Grotto. The swimming season runs from Easter to late October.
